Just the job
I remember paying about £25 for balance scales over two decades ago and much the same for our first set of digital scales a decade ago, so these seem a bargain.Went for them rather than the bigger-selling Salter as I liked the flat square top and clean lines. There is a recess of about 1cm under the top which is a potential trap for spills but the gap is about 5mm so easy to wipe out.Comes with a hearing aid type battery which hopefully will last - our previous Salter scales seemed to eat PP9s lately. In any case you can get a whole pack of them in pound shops.Accuracy is good - agreed with our other scales within 1 gram at various steps to 750g. Weights were reported consistently whether placing towards the corners or the middle. You can set the units in fluid ounces and millilitres as well as lbs/ozs and grams. Can't quite see the point of the fluid measurements and I was not convinced by the accuracy on a quick check, but it is not a feature I'd use.The display is clear though the unit type display (i.e. to show if you are on grams or ounces) is a little small - superscripted above the weight units. But these come up in different positions so you'd quickly get used to it and in any case it reverts to the last units used.Startup time is quick - a few seconds, which was a slight issue with our previous scales. Just two buttons - one for the units and one to start/zero.They weigh about half a kilo so feel quite solid and won't skate about.

Brilliant. Lasted 10.5 years and replaced with same.
I bought these in May 2014 and had to replace them in November 2024. They are great little scales with a good sized surface for a bowl or plate. They have been used once or twice a day for over 10 years, and I was so happy that they were still available. Hope I can buy them again in spring 2035.

An excellent, robust and attractive piece of kitchen equipment
An excellent, robust and attractive piece of kitchen equipment. Very easy to use with glass platform and very clear display. I tested it with several calibrated weights and the readings were spot on every time. Recommend it to anyone who requires a first class and reliable essential kitchen scale. Unfortunately it arrived five days after the stated date due to the carrier's leaving it in some 'non--existent mailroom'. Eventually it was delivered by a neighbour from a nearby residence.

Still working great after 9y
I thought I'd write a short review as I'm really happy with my kitchen scale that has been working impeccably since 2015. I think I changed the battery once. Simple and intuitive to use. I can only recommend!

I like it
We've had these scales for 3-4 weeks now and used them frequently. Easy to keep clean as they stay in the plastic bag they came in when they're used. They have a tendency to creep very slightly, the reading increases very, very slightly when a weight is left on the scales prior to adding something else, but we're only talking a gram or so here. The auto off facility is a little faster than I was used to, once again not a real problem.I like the slim compact design of these, they feel more fragile than our last model which was all plastic and we've had to find a safer place to store them. Would I buy them again? At £13, yes.The weak area of a lot of these scales, it seems to me, is the area around the buttons. Our previous scales had buttons that were sealed. At the price I was willing to pay none of the scales I've seen have this. It is obviously a design 'feature' to reduce the life of the scales. No point having a15 year warranty when the most obvious cause of failure is not covered under the warranty conditions. I asked Salter if the electronics inside any of their scales were sealed at all to protect them from moisture, the answer was a simple 'none of our scales are waterproof' as if I wanted to use them underwater!Interesting to me that our last scales, which lasted over 17 years, were accurate to 2 grams and I was very fussy about getting the weights as accurate as possible, these scales are accurate to 1 gram and I find that as long as the reading is thereabouts that will do! But maybe that's just me :-)

Excellent Scales
A very well made and super looking scale. It works extremely well, and the packaging was excellent; very well secured and protected in its retail box. I like the readout of the angled display, which allows for the top glass plate to be completely covered by a tray or a box. One excellent bonus point is that the weight sensors are not in the feet under the body; they are between the glass plate and the top of the body, so the scale does not have to rest on a hard flat surface to weigh accurately. I am very happy with this purchase; a superb scale at a very good price.
